Meet Stan Lewis, U.S. Navy — 2025 Veteran
Stan Lewis, a 100% disabled Veteran from Waxahachie, Texas, began his journey in military service when he entered the delayed entry program in May 1982.
Following this initial step, he completed boot camp in July 1982, setting the foundation for a distinguished career in the United States Navy. He attended Personnelman, a school in Meridian, Mississippi in September 1982, before serving as a Personnelman Seaman aboard the USS Lang (FF-1060) stationed in Long Beach, California.
Recognizing his potential, Stan was transferred as a Petty Officer 3rd Class into the Broadened Opportunity Officer Selective TrainJng (BOOST) Program in San Diego, California, where he completed Phase 1 of the program in June 1984. This ultimately led him to the NROTC Prep program and, subsequently, to the University of New Mexico, where he served as a Midshipman from 1984 to 1987. After his senior year, he gained invaluable experience through a Foreign Exchange Midshipman Cruise at the Korean Naval Academy, participating in joint Korean and US naval operations.
After completing his education, Stan attended Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island, and was assigned to the USS Bainbridge (CGN-25) in Norfolk, Virginia. There he served as the First Division Officer, then as missile officer. He also held collateral duties as Flight Safety Officer.
His exemplary service continued at COMNAVBASE Norfolk, where he served as the Automated Data Processing Officer. Received a letter of Appreciation from Rear Admiral Carlsen for exceptional achievements in developing an accredited ADP Security Program.
After honorably discharging from the Navy due to a medical disability, Stan returned home to pursue a career in law enforcement. He dedicated 12 and a half years to serving as a police officer and achieved the rank of Master Peace Officer. Most recently, he'll retire on December 31, 2025, from the federal government as an investigator & Mediator with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), culminating a remarkable 24 years of total service.
