Meet Michael Trudel, U.S. Army — 2026 Veteran

Michael Trudel grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, attending Lowell High School. Michael joined the Army reserves in 2001. He completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia and A.I.T in Fort Lee, Virginia where he became a Unit Supply Specialist.

Trudel joined active duty Army in May 2002. His first duty station was Ft. Stewart, Georgia. He was assigned to 1-3 Air Defense Artillery. On January 27th, 2003, Trudel's Division was sent to Kuwait.

On March 19th Trudel was part of the initial invasion into Iraq. Michael's division was only supposed to fight up to the southernmost airport in Iraq but once they did that, they ordered his unit to keep going and pushed into Baghdad and took it over with heavy enemy resistance.

While in Iraq Michael injured his ankle due to an ambush. Trudel's unit set up their unit base at Falcon Palace close to Baghdad international airport. Trudel's mission in Iraq ended in late July and was medically separated with an honorable discharge.
