Meet U.S. Army Medic (Ret.) Stacy E. Dickey — 2015 Wounded Veteran

U.S. Army Medic (Ret.) Stacy E. Dickey was born is Ft. Worth, Texas and was raised in Arlington, Texas. Stacy has two children: Morgan who is 21 and is in the Air Force and Grant, who is 19 and is in college.

Stacy, who has served a total of 10 years in the Army, first enlisted in 1998 and served until 2000. During that time she was a 31-F Network Switching Systems Operator/Maintainer. Stacy was Honorably Discharged after an injury to her hip in Airborne Jumpschool. Now as a civilian, she became a contracting Telecommunications Engineer.

After healing from her previous injuries, Stacy reenlisted from 2007-2015. During this enlistment, Stacy served as a 68W Combat Medic (adding the M6 Nursing Specialist ASI in 2012). During this second enlistment, she served onboard Army sailing vessels in Virginia as the Vessels's Medical NCO and traveled to several countries on cargo ops.

She was then stationed at Ft. Hood, where she was the Company Medical NCO for the 64th Military Police Company. Later deployed as a Line Medic with their 3rd platoon to Mehtar Lam, Afghanistan from April 2010 to March 2011, Stacy was outside the wire almost daily – sometimes multiple times in a day.

Stacy was then MEDEVAC'ed from Mehtar Lam (and eventually to Landstuhl, Germany) on March 14, 2011. She was denied entry into the WTU upon return to Ft. Hood and was then stationed at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas as a PACU Nurse. It was here her injuries and illnesses from Afghanistan became so problematic she was removed from patient care and became a patient herself.

Due to this latest development, Stacy retired as a 68C, Nurse in March of 2015.
