Meet SSG John Horrell — 2017 Veteran

John Horrell enlisted into the Army in August of 2008. He conducted OSUT (One Station Unit Training), Airborne School, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He was then stationed at the 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Alpha Co, 2nd Plt at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He served as an assistant machine gunner, machine gun team leader, Squad automatic rifleman, Fire team leader, and Military working dog handler.

During his time in 2nd Ranger Battalion he was deployed in combat operations during Operation Enduring Freedom a total of six times.

His schools and courses include Airborne School, Ranger School, Warriors Leader Course, Master Breacher, Regimental Marksmanship Instructor Course, and the Regimental Canine Handeler course.

SSG Horrell was then medically retired under honorable conditions in October of 2016.
