Meet Brian Chapman, U.S. Army — 2024 Veteran

Brian Chapman was born in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Emmanual Southern Christian Academy in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1983 and went on to earn a BA degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1995.

Brian enlisted in the US Army Reserve in 1982 and completed Basic and AIT at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in 1984. He attended Officer Candidate School at the Oklahoma Military Academy and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard in 1987.

His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Mortar Platoon Course, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Course, M60A3 and M1A1 Tank Commander Courses, Armor Officer Advanced Course, Military Police Officer Transition Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and the Reserve Component Command and General Staff Officer Course.

Brian's mobilizations/deployments included Operation Noble Eagle Homeland Defense Operations, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq (OIF), and Afghanistan (OEF). In 2015, Brian retired from the Texas Army National Guard at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Brian was also a career law enforcement officer and served with the Dallas Police Department from 1989 until 2017 when he retired at the rank of Detective.

Since his retirement, Brian has continued to serve his community as a member of the Texas VFW 7426. He served as Commander of the Post for four years of which two of those years the Post attained All-State and All-American status.
